To ensure you have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable expedition, please take note of the following important information.

Travel documents

  • All travellers must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
  • Please check visa requirements for your nationality before travelling.
  • Keep a copy of your passport photo page separate from the original.

Health and safety

  • Malaysia is generally a safe destination.
  • Drink bottled or filtered water at all times.
  • Carry any personal medication you may require, with a copy of the prescription.
  • Insect repellent is recommended for rainforest and rural areas.
  • Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all guests.

Expedition vehicles

  • Our expeditions are supported by well-maintained 4x4 vehicles operated by experienced drivers.
  • Seat belts must be worn at all times.
  • Maximum passenger and luggage capacity must not be exceeded.
  • Please advise us if you have any back, neck or other medical conditions.

Accommodation

  • A selection of carefully chosen hotels, lodges and eco-resorts are included.
  • Rooms are based on twin or double sharing.
  • Some locations have limited electricity or no Wi-Fi. Embrace the experience.
  • Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability.

What to pack

  • Light, breathable clothing for daytime.
  • Long sleeves and trousers for rainforest and insect protection.
  • Comfortable walking or trekking shoes.
  • Swimwear, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Rain jacket or poncho.
  • Personal toiletries and any essential medication.

Currency and payments

  • The local currency is the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR).
  • Credit cards are widely accepted in cities and major hotels. Cash is recommended in rural areas.
  • ATMs are available in most towns.
  • Please inform your bank of your travel plans to avoid card issues.

Communication

  • Prepaid SIM cards with data are available at the airport and in major towns.
  • Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and cafes, but may be limited in remote areas.
  • Our team will be in touch throughout the expedition.
